Grappling Arts - Judo, Jujitsu, Wrestling

Grab them, throw them down, control them, submit them.

By this point every martial arts fan knows grappling skills allow you to win a fight or contest if it goes to the ground. There is much more to it, however. Grappling arts (anything that centers around grabbing/controlling the opponent) also help you to stop incoming attacks, control your opponent's balance, and dictate WHERE you want the fight to take place. Whether your goal is self-defense or competition, grappling skills are crucial to success.

Experience has taught me what works and what doesn't, and often a combination of skillsets is the best way to go. Rather than try and learn everything, let me guide you on the most efficient path. Learning grappling arts from me will look something like this:

  • self-defense skills from classical Jujitsu (locks/escapes)
  • controlling the opponent's body with Wrestling/Muay Thai Clinch control (no gi needed)
  • takedowns from Judo, Jujitsu and Wrestling
  • takedown defense from Judo/Wrestling
  • ground control/submissions from Jujitsu/Judo

Learning Skyhook Style grappling skills will prepare you for either competition or self-defense. Practicing these skills will be much more efficient with a partner, so consider finding a buddy you can train alongside.  If you are interested in learning more, set yourself up with a consultation or send me an email for more information.
